Spring Concert

posted Apr 23, 2018, 5:22 PM by Nicole Hamel

The date of our Spring concert for the Choirs and Bands is Wednesday, May 9th and will be held here at Alexander's.  We will be holding 3 concerts throughout the day/evening.
The first at 2pm, second at 6pm, and final concert will be held at 7:30pm.

This time around, there will be NO tickets distributed and NO charge for the concert this spring.  We found from our Winter Concert, the gym was not filling up, so we will leave it up to your discretion as to which concert is best for you and your family to attend; HOWEVER, if we DO happen to fill gym to capacity at any concert, we will have to turn people away, so be prepared for that.  To help with this, we ask that you limit the number of family members attending to about 4 people (as we have asked in the past).

Compassion Society Collection

posted Apr 23, 2018, 5:15 PM by Nicole Hamel

It is at this time of year, that Alexander's PS likes to help out our Burlington community by cleaning out their houses! It is an excellent opportunity to teach your children to give back. The Compassion Society is a local, non-profit organization that gives to many families in need in Burlington. We have partnered with them for over ten years. It is always rewarding to know that we are helping people locally, with items that we no longer need.

We are collecting used clothing (washed and in good condition). They are especially in needs of boys and men's clothing for the upcoming season. In addition, they are always in need of gently used small kitchen appliances/items (dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, rice cookers, coffee makers and toasters).

If you have nothing used to donate, but still wish to donate, other items that are in high demand are:
Food - Coffee, Tea, Cereal, Canned Meat/Fruit, Cookies, Jams, Salmon/Tuna, Rice, Flour, Sugar, Juices (preferably school lunch sized), Kids School Snacks Gluten Free Items
Kitchen Supplies - Transparent plastic bags (10cm x 20cm, 10cm x 30cm) for bagging bread and repacking other food items, Smaller Garbage Bags, Paper Towels, Dish Soap, Kitchen Rolls
School Supplies - Backpacks, other school supplies
Cleaning Supplies - Laundry detergent
Personal Items - Toilet Paper / Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, soap), Diapers size 5 and 6,
Feminine Hygiene Products Articles - Toiletries
Incontinence Products - Adult Incontinence Products

We will be doing our collection from Monday, April 23rd - Monday, April 30th. Please drop off items in front of the library. We thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs Perosevic at perosevicl@hdsb.ca.

Light it up BLUE

posted Apr 5, 2018, 5:39 PM by Nicole Hamel

Being a little ‘BLUE’ never felt so good! April is World Autism Awareness Month and to help celebrate Autism Awareness, Alexander’s will come together for a ‘Light it up Blue Day’ to show our support and awareness for Autism. To kick off our awareness campaign, on Friday, April 6th, we would like to see everyone at Alexander’s dressed in the colour blue. Throughout the rest of the month, we will have information shared during morning announcements and school-wide activities in celebrating being kind and compassionate and recognizing one another's similarities and differences.
